Staff Annual Increment Compensation Change Statements Now Available
As was communicated in May, the Board of Trustees approved a salary increment budget of 3.5%, which includes a tiered allocation for a general increment, and up to 0.5% for an increment based on merit for all continuing, non-bargaining unit* employees.
Non-unionized staff employees (excluding those on periodic salaries) should receive an email on Thursday, June 29th with a link to login to IC HR Cloud to access their annual compensation change letter, acknowledge receipt of the letter, and to print the letter if so desired. Documentation on accessing letters in IC HR Cloud can be found here.
Staff employees who are on periodic salaries or who have position or other assignment changes effective July 1 will receive their letters directly from their HR Business Partners no later than June 30, 2023. General and merit increment increases for staff are effective July 1 and are payable in the payroll comprising July 1.
PLEASE NOTE: For hourly staff employees, the pay period ending July 2, 2023 (to be paid on July 7, 2023), will be calculated as follows. The hourly rate for hours worked July 19th through June 30th will be calculated using the pre-increment rate of pay and the hourly rate for hours worked July 1st through July 2nd will be calculated using the new rate of pay, post-increment. However, the July 7, 2023, payslip will only display the new rate of pay in the “Base Salary” field. Staff with questions about their payslip should contact their HR Business Partner.
Faculty will be notified of their increments upon receiving their faculty salary letter for the 2023-24 Academic Year in the coming weeks.
*Compensation for UGSOA employees is determined in accordance with their collective bargaining agreement.
One-Time Payments to be Distributed
In recognition of the commitment and hard work of our employees this past year, Ithaca College leadership has dedicated $1 million dollars to give back to our employees as one-time payments. Eligible employees must have been continuously employed by the College in a non-bargaining unit staff or faculty position since July 1, 2022. Temporary staff are not eligible for the payment. These one-time payments will be paid July 21, 2023, for bi-weekly staff and July 31, 2023, for semi-monthly faculty and staff. The amount of the one-time payment is outlined below, consistent with the parameters for the annual increment:
Annual Salary
(pre-increment) | One-time Payment Amount
(minus applicable withholdings) | up to $60,999 | $1,000 | $61,000-99,999 | $750 | $100,000-199,999 | $500 |
The extra efforts made by our employees during a time when the job market has made it difficult to recruit and retain staff and faculty, has not gone unnoticed and we are pleased to be able to offer this token of appreciation for all of you who stepped up to make Ithaca College such an amazing place for our students to live and learn. As always, thank you for all that you do!
403(b) Retirement Plan Changes
Matching feature of our 403(b) programs: Effective July 1, 2023, the employer contribution to the IC 403(b) Plan is being increased from 7% to 7.5% for eligible employees contributing at least 3% of their annual salary.
Auto enrollment feature for 403(b) elective contributions: As a reminder, as of August 1 each year, eligible employees who are not currently enrolled or have elected to contribute less than 3% of their annual salary into the 403(b) retirement plan, will be auto enrolled into the retirement plan and will see a contribution made through payroll deduction in the amount of 3% their annual salary each payroll period following August 1. These employee contributions are made on a pre-tax basis and will be directed to the Target Income Moderate Model portfolio.
Auto-increases to employee contributions: Also as of August 1, and recurring each year, employee contributions to the 403(b) retirement plan will automatically increase by 1% up to the maximum amount of 15% for automatic increases. The annual automatic increase feature has been in place since February of 2018 and is a tool that can assist employees with their long-term savings goals for retirement.
Review of College’s match and true-up adjustments: At the end of each 403(b) retirement plan year, a review of plan contributions is completed. As you recall, employees were required to contribute the minimum contribution every payroll period of the year in order to receive the full employer match. Effective immediately, every participant enrolled in the Plan and eligible for the employer match will receive the full amount of match they are eligible for as long as they have contributed the minimum employee contribution required for the full year. Following each plan year, an assessment will be completed, and adjustments will be made to participants' accounts as needed. Since the employer match is a different percentage for the second half of the year, each half year is reviewed individually for the employer match.
If you have questions about the 403(b) retirement plan, please contact the Office of Human Resources at humanresources@ithaca.edu.
