We would first like to extend a big thank you to everyone who joined us for our conversation with Karen Catlin on building a more inclusive workplace, and to all of the supervisors who participated in the subsequent workshop to further dive into the same topic. We would also like to take a moment to thank our Administrative Professionals for all they do to support the college every day and for joining us for breakfast earlier this week. Our theme at the breakfast was gratitude. And in keeping with that theme, we would like to recognize all that our employees do every day to enhance the lives of our students and of each other. You are appreciated and we are truly grateful to be a part of the IC community. We encourage you to take this time to acknowledge those around you by sharing your sense of gratitude with them. Such a small gesture can mean so much to those around you. With gratitude, your colleagues in the Office of Human Resources.

Introducing The Work Number
Do you need to verify your employment or income status to receive a loan, buy a new car, or obtain a new apartment? Ithaca College is excited to partner with The Work Number, offered through Equifax, to provide an employment verification service available 24/7 to our employees and verification partners. IC faculty, staff, and student employees can access The Work Number to download employment, income, and social services verifications.
Please note, employees who wish to receive a written verification letter to verify employment or income, (and student employees who wish to receive a letter verifying Federal Work Study status) may contact their HR Business Partner. Public Service Loan Forgiveness, Social Security Number applications, and Proof of Work Study forms cannot be completed through The Work Number. Please email HumanResources@Ithaca.edu for these requests.
Please see this article for more information about using and accessing The Work Number.
Introducing Explore in Journeys
Success is a journey. Oracle Journeys drive success by delivering personalized guidance to support you through professional and personal workflows, such as onboarding, applying for an IC Credit Card, updating your personal information, updating your lived name and gender, and more!
While IC HR has deployed Journeys for onboarding, information update/collection, and more for the last year, we are excited to now offer the option for employees to sign up for Journeys to complete tasks in the IC HR Cloud, and for managers to now have the option to assign Journeys to their direct reports.
Please refer to this article for more information about using and accessing Journeys, embarking on your own Journeys, and seeing the current list available in Explore. The Office of Human Resources is excited to continue to develop Journeys to enhance the employee experience in IC HR Cloud.
Enhancements to the HR Knowledge Base
The IC HR Knowledge Base is your hub for Human Resources and IC HR Cloud knowledge. We have created toolkits for employees and managers to make it easier to find articles related to employee and manager self-service. We encourage you to review and bookmark this index to help find HR self-service information faster. This index will also be updated as new Knowledge Base articles are published.

Costing Update
When you hire student employees in the IC HR Cloud, costing, or the account number from which wages and expenses will be processed, is based on the department selected on the job offer. No manual override costing is needed if the department associated with the correct account number is selected. Finance and Human Resources suggest that, when possible, please assign your employees to the department associated with the account number from which they will be paid, to ensure wages and expenses are charged correctly beginning at the time of hire.
To aid you in selecting the correct department when drafting job offers, the Office of Human Resources has created a job aid that lists the default account number associated with each active HR department in the IC Finance and HR Cloud. Please reference this job aid when creating job offers for student employees to ensure that all wages and expenses are charged correctly. As new departments are created in the Cloud, this job aid will be updated.
Don’t see any departments associated with a particular account number? Please complete this form to request the creation of a new student department, and IC HR will create the new department for you within three (3) business days. Please note, you can still request override costing be manually entered by adding an override costing request to the “Additional Info” tab on the student job offer; however, this should be used only in cases where the creation of a department would not be applicable (for example, payment from a one-time grant).
If you have questions about this information, please contact Payroll Services at Payroll@Ithaca.edu.
Office/Building Location Verification
As part of an ongoing effort to ensure we have updated and accurate information for our employees, we would like everyone to verify their office/building location in ICHR Cloud. Please follow the instructions here (in the Update Office/Building Location section) to review your current information and make any necessary changes. Please remember to update this information anytime you change your office and/or building location.
If you need assistance, please contact your HR Business Partner.

Educational Benefits
Spring is in the air, and it is time to submit educational benefit applications for the Fall 2023 Semester. Applications for dependent and employee tuition remission and/or cash awards will be accepted from April 15, 2023, to June 30, 2023. Applications for Spring 2024 employee and dependent tuition remission and/or cash awards will be accepted from October 15, 2023, to November 30, 2023. Please note, an application is required for each semester.
The Offices of Human Resources and Student Financial Services have simplified and streamlined the tuition remission application process. Once a student completes the application form, the form is routed through a workflow including the required confirmation from the eligible employee, the Office of Human Resources as to the eligibility of the employee, and finally, Student Financial Services for approval and final processing. Please note that the student will receive a link directly from Student Financial Services once they have completed the application indicating a parent is employed at Ithaca College.
For applications and additional information related to eligibility for educational benefits please visit our website.
Please direct any questions related to the educational benefits to humanresources@ithaca.edu.
