Please see below for updates and announcements from the Office of Human Resources.
Important Dates and Deadlines
Starting September 1, your IC ID will no longer get you on the bus. To access the bus for free, you will need to install the TFare Mobile App and set up your IC wallet. The app is simple to set up and easy to use. It is important to note, however, that just as previous riders who forgot to bring their ID were expected to pay the full bus fare, those who attempt to ride without the app, and/or those who have forgotten their phone will need to pay the required $1.50 per trip in order to ride the bus.
We appreciate that not every member of the IC community has access to a smartphone. We are currently working with TCAT on implementing their new SmartCard system which will allow access to the new IC Pass without a smartphone. Unfortunately, the SmartCard system is not yet operational so employees will need a smartphone to be able to take advantage of this new IC Pass option.
Whether you are taking the bus to and from downtown, making a visit to Taughannock Falls, or utilizing the newly restored late-night service on weekdays and Saturdays, TCAT and IC will get you there (and back) – at no cost to you! The TCAT bus system is a tremendous asset for this community, and we hope you take the opportunity to use this resource to your advantage while at Ithaca College.
Additional information and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the ID Office website. The TCAT site also has several FAQs to answer many of the questions you may have, as well as several tips and reference points that will make your use of the system more seamless. If you have any questions or need help with planning your trip, please contact TCAT at (607) 277-7433 or email TCAT at tcat@tcatmail.com. TCAT also encourages you to download Google Transit trip-planning or real-time information apps. For more information, see TCAT’s app page.
Campus Climate Follow-Up Sessions
We are excited to announce more opportunities to engage with Campus Climate Committee members. The Center for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Co-Directors will be hosting additional Follow-up sessions on the dates listed below:
- Student Session: September 3, 12:10 to 1:00 pm in the Ithaca Falls Room, Campus Center
- Remote Staff Session: September 4, 2:00 to 3:00 pm via Zoom
- Staff Session: September 5, 12:10 to 1:00 pm in the Center for Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Lounge, Job Hall 219
- Faculty Session: September 5, 12:10 to 1:00 pm in the Ithaca Falls Room, Campus Center
The purpose of these sessions is to serve as a platform for discussion, as we look to leverage the data from the survey results to further strengthen areas where we are succeeding and address areas where we are experiencing challenges as a college community. The participation and feedback from the members of our campus community are critical in helping to inform and guide the priorities and decisions for the next stage of this work. These sessions will be structured to allow space where all three of our core constituencies – students, faculty, and staff – will have an opportunity to engage and share their perspectives.
If you are unable to join us at one of these upcoming sessions, but would still like to engage with us, please contact campusclimate@ithaca.edu.
Ithaca College Joins the Tuition Exchange
For those of you who missed last week’s Intercom article, we are excited to announce that Ithaca College has joined the Tuition Exchange. The Tuition Exchange is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity with over 700 Tuition Exchange schools and is available to dependents of employees who meet Ithaca College’s educational benefits eligibility criteria.
The value of a Tuition Exchange scholarship ranges from the Tuition Exchange set rate of $43,000 for academic year 2025-26 (this rate changes annually), up to the full cost of tuition at the Tuition Exchange member school. Each Tuition Exchange member school determines its policies and procedures for eligibility and scholarship requirements. Scholarships are not guaranteed (i.e., not all students that apply for a tuition exchange scholarship will be awarded one) and may be offset by federal grants, state grants, institutional scholarships/grants, or outside scholarships the student is awarded at the Tuition Exchange member school. Details about the scholarship awarding process can be found here: https://www.tuitionexchange.org/vnews/display.v/ART/529f935a8e4ff.
To find out more about the Tuition Exchange scholarship and to review a list of Tuition Exchange schools, visit the Tuition Exchange website at www.tuitionexchange.org.
