Ithaca College has been partnering with Emeriti Retirement Health Solutions (Emeriti) since 2007 to offer a retirement health savings plan known as the “Emeriti Retirement Health Plan.” The program, governed by the Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA), allows for employer contributions to accumulate throughout an eligible employee’s career at Ithaca College for use for healthcare-related expenses in retirement.
Emeriti has recently announced that they will be changing record keepers from TIAA to OneBridge Benefits. The college is working closely with the Emeriti transition team as they embark upon this change and effective January 1, 2025, participant accounts will transition to OneBridge Benefits. To ensure a smooth transition, we will host informational meetings both on campus and virtually throughout late fall 2024 and early spring 2025. One-on-one assistance will also be available.
In addition to the record keeper change, Ithaca College will be discontinuing the option for employee contributions to the plan effective December 31, 2024. While there are very few employees making contributions to the plan, the College already offers other options to provide for employee needs around healthcare and retirement savings. Please contact the Office of Human Resources to find out more information.
The College will also pause employer contributions to the Emeriti Retirement Health Plan for calendar year 2025. During this time, the college will evaluate how to best support our employees as they prepare for healthcare in retirement.
While no contributions will be accepted into the plan after December 31, 2024, Emeriti Retirement Health Plan accounts will remain open, balances will remain visible, and funds will continue to be accessible to retirees through the OneBridge portal after January 1, 2025.
Additional information from OneBridge Benefits will be coming soon. Please contact the Office of Human Resources at humanresources@ithaca.edu or 607-274-8000 if you have any questions.
