Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program
PREVENT TYPE 2 DIABETES PROGRAM AT THE ITHACA COLLEGE WELLNESS CLINIC
1 out of 3 American adults has prediabetes. If you have prediabetes, you can make changes now to improve your health and prevent type 2 diabetes.
The Ithaca College Wellness Clinic, located in the Center for Health Sciences, will be hosting the PreventT2 lifestyle change program, part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This proven program can help you make modest lifestyle changes and cut your risk of type 2 diabetes.
The PreventT2 lifestyle change program can help you lose weight, become more physically active, and reduce stress.
- A proven program to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.
- A CDC-approved curriculum and trained lifestyle coach.
- A year-long program with weekly meetings for the first 6 months, then once or twice a month for the second 6 months.
- Support from others like you as you learn new skills.

Benefits Expo – Save the Date
We are pleased to announce that we will be having an in-person benefits expo on the Ithaca College campus on October 10, 2023, and a virtual benefits expo on October 11, 2023. Please keep an eye out for more information about the expo as well as additional programming that will happen throughout the month of October.
2024 Benefits Open Enrollment Period Scheduled
The 2024 Open Enrollment period for active benefits-eligible employees and retirees will run from October 30 through November 10, 2023. Additional details about annual open enrollment will be included in our September HR newsletter.

Ithaca College 403(b) Retirement Plan – 2023 Plan Sponsor of the Year Nomination

We are honored to be recognized nationally and the only College or University nominated for this year’s award.

The annual Plan Sponsor of the Year awards program recognizes retirement plan sponsors that show a commitment to their employees’ retirement success and overall financial well-being. As part of PLANSPONSOR’s evaluation process they measured key elements of Ithaca College’s Retirement Plan Design and Participant Metrics and our Plan is viewed as exceptional on both accounts.
We are proud of the recent changes made to our retirement plan and are thrilled to be recognized for these efforts.
As a reminder, if you were contributing less than 3% to the 403(b) Retirement Plan prior to August 1, 2023, you were automatically re-enrolled in the Plan at 3% or your contribution was automatically increased to 3% on August 1, 2023. Employees who contribute at least 3% to the Plan, receive a 7.5% employer matching contribution from Ithaca College – which was increased from 7% to 7.5% on July 1, 2023. Employees already enrolled in the Plan should have seen a 1% automatic increase in your employee contribution on August 1, 2023, and will continue to see this 1% increase each year on August 1 until you reach a 15% savings rate. During your session, you will get answers to your questions and develop a retirement action plan tailored specifically to your financial situation.
