Ithaca Began With a Letter and a Violin

Ithaca-area native William Grant Egbert was a young, homesick violinist studying in Europe in the 1880s. It occurred to him that he could play his violin for a living in Ithaca if he taught music on a grand scale.

He took his idea and penned it into a letter. It grew into Ithaca College. Today, Ithaca is your place to grow your passions into progress.
