The HR Effectiveness Survey is Now Closed
The HR Effectiveness Survey closed on February 26, 2023. Thank you to all who provided feedback! Data collected in the survey included information about HR service, communication, response time, and employee experience. We are excited to begin reviewing the responses we received from the IC community and will provide information about our insights, trends, and plans for turning your feedback into positive change. We will also share the winners of our Awardco reward points drawing in the March newsletter.
The conversation is only just beginning. Please keep an eye out for information regarding upcoming visits to business units where we invite you to join us in a dialogue about your experience with HR and assist us in identifying areas for growth and increased support.
On behalf of the entire HR team, thank you for your honest feedback. We value your insight and take seriously our commitment to providing responsive, accurate, and transformative service. We are excited to continue our work together.
Onboarding Changes to Start March 20, 2023
As was previously communicated, we are enhancing our onboarding program to include an in-person component beginning March 20, 2023. As of that date, we will be holding onboarding sessions on campus every other Monday. We will add sessions for newly hired faculty prior to the start of each semester. Sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will last about 2 hours. These onboarding sessions will give new employees a chance to network with one another and meet members of the Human Resources team. The agenda will include important information about college policies, procedures, and benefits, as well as providing an opportunity to share some of the rich history, culture, and fun facts about Ithaca College!
HR Business Partners will work with supervisors to schedule new employees into an onboarding session. A virtual option of the onboarding sessions will be offered to employees who are fully remote. Start dates do not need to coincide with a session date.
We are pleased to include this in-person component to our onboarding process and look forward to meeting and interacting with the College’s new employees!
Please contact your HR Business Partner if you have any questions.

New York State COVID Paid Leave is Still in Effect
New York State COVID Paid Leave is still in effect. Employees are entitled to at least 14 days of paid COVID-19 sick leave while they are subject to a mandatory or precautionary order of quarantine or isolation issued by the NYS Department of Health (or any governmental entity similarly authorized). In no event shall an employee qualify for sick leave under New York’s COVID-19 sick leave law for more than three orders of quarantine or isolation. The second and third orders must be based on a positive COVID-19 test and the employee must submit documentation from a licensed medical provider or testing facility attesting that the employee has tested positive for COVID-19. Additional information about COVID Paid Leave can be found here. Employees should contact their HR Business Partner if they have questions.
Wage Transparency Act
On December 21, 2022, a new statewide pay transparency law was signed into law by Governor Hochul. The new law requires all private sector New York employers to list salary ranges for all advertised jobs and postings. While the new law does not take effect until September 17, 2023, we have already begun to include hiring ranges on staff and faculty postings. Please contact your HR Business Partner if you have any questions.
